If you have browsed or purchased any gloves in Canada, you might have noticed that there are some companies that market gloves with a claim “CFIA Approved”.<\/p>\n

If you are relying on that claim and falling for it, then you must read this post.<\/p>\n

As per my discussion with CFIA, the authority does not approve\/regulate gloves anymore. CFIA had issued acceptance letters for gloves or other products in the past, but that was more than a decade ago. I found a company that is selling gloves with an acceptance letter from CFIA dated back to the year 2001. You can understand that companies do not even consider updating the documents to meet the latest regulations. Here is one of such letters.<\/p>\n

There some companies which I have noticed marketing gloves based on CFIA claims:<\/p>\n

1. RONCO<\/strong><\/p>\n

This company is using a CFIA acceptance letter from the year 2001 to promote its gloves as “CFIA Accepted”. Here is the URL:<\/p>\n

You can find the CFIA letter under the Compliance tab on the webpages following the above URLs. They named the document as “CFIA No Objection Letter”<\/p>\n

2. Waston Gloves<\/strong><\/p>\n

This company wrote “CFIA approved” with their gloves on the website. The below two documents by Watson clearly display claims of CFIA approval.<\/p>\n

They even used CFIA logo symbol in the French version of the document.<\/p>\n

Such claims of CFIA-approved gloves are clearly misleading and false. The gloves themselves cannot be promoted with the name of CFIA in Canada. Companies might be doing this knowingly or unknowingly, but this kind of advertisement creates unfair competition in the market.<\/p>\n
